They say most people will have seven careers in their lifetime.  In the "old" days your grandparents would go to work, stay there for their working career, retire and draw a nice pension.  Well, those days are no more!  Companies change and the security your grandparents may have felt during their working career is just not there anymore. All too often many find their employer is downsizing.  Or they need extra income, either in retirement or just to make ends meet.  I love to stay active, even in my so called "retirement".  So why not start a new business--extra income is always nice!   A home network marketing business fit perfectly with my flexibility needs.

You really must be wondering why I have had such a wide range of careers.  First clinical medicine for years, then full time medical administration as a Vice President of a Managed Care Company. With no business background I had to learn a lot of new things. So back to night school I went and earned an MBA degree. I stayed in full time administrative medicine for 17 years before deciding to "retire".  For family reasons I moved halfway across the country from California back to Kentucky.  

Now gardening is good, and I still have a BIG garden every year. But I love learning new things so it wasn't long before I began to look for new challenges. I wanted something to give me extra income, something I could do at home, and something that would give me flexible time because of the family committments.

My mother, (bless her fiesty little heart) turned 90 December of 2006 and celebrated by taking a spin on the back of a Honda touring motorcycle. Despite her still being active I know it was the right thing to move close. Trips back to California are easier to plan than emergency trips the other way.

Together with my business partner we formed MarSyl LLC and started a couple of internet-based companies. One of my affiliations has been as an independent  network marketing associate. My web site became successful as a means for selling the health products. But I knew I needed more knowledge about network marketing to move up to the REALLY successful level. I have succeeded getting into the top level of commission earners with my primary network marketing company month after month. It has been a huge amount of work, but It has turned out to be a perfect fit for me. I have used my medical backround, since my primary company had health related products.  

But I had to learn about marketing, because without good marketing nothing happens.  You too can be successful too. But you need the right tools, otherwise you will be working hard but may not get too far.

Too many do not succeed. From some of the internet ads you see you would think home businesses are like a lottery!  Put down a little money, just sit back and get rich!  Do you really believe that?  It takes patience, hard work, and as with any business-- time. You have to keep at it even when you would rather be doing something else. Oh not all day, but consistently.

It's true Network Marketing does not take the same level of investment other start-up businesses cost.  Maybe that's why so many fail. 

Think about how people may rationalize not suceeding.  They may say to themselves  "I didn't put much in so I didn't lose much" 

But why bother then?

You too can be successful if you learn the right marketing techniques with the right tools too. You will need that burning desire to succeed, and the resolve to do what you need to do even when you don't feel like it.
